HERE'S A WHACKY IDEA...

'Don't tell the Bride' - a crazy idea where the Bride hands the Groom the responsibly of planning their big day. A slightly dysfunctional idea, but a bloody brilliant one.

This week, we had Mark organise his beloved Gill's wedding. High maintenance and couture lover Gill works for Scotland's top wedding magazine, so the transformation into 'Bridezilla' is clearly inevitable. He went... FESTIVAL. My first thought was.. muddy, cold and well whacky, however, CLEVER. I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome, and to much shock by the bridezilla herself, he sure did pull it out the bag! - Hay stacks transformed into rows of seating, a four tier cake turn three tier, and guests pulled in by a tractor through muddy waters ... sounds urm, dirty. But, an amazing atmosphere was created, with a sense of fun and spontaneity. Iv found some other ideas for a festival inspired wedding...

'The line-up' in true festival style, noted on a card and put on every table for the guests to know what they are letting themselves in for. The simple country flowers are vintage-like and natural for any festive chick. A little goes a long way. Image from 'Festival Brides'.

Marquess are so versatile, and you can create your own design throughout - this is what I find so great about them. They can make any field look elegant, and any 'festival wedding' hippy chic. Throw in some hay. Image from 'West Country Marquees'

And, an extra feature; 'chill out area'.

Iv been hearing so much about these Tipis, knows as 'big hats'. (I personally think they look like something out of Harry Potter). They look very fairytale-like.

Whats more festive/country-like than a cheese layered cake. A range of fine cheese cake is available from The Fine Cheese Co. This cake shown is 'Betty's cheese wedding cake', made up of Olde sussex, Spenwood, Baby Colston Bassett Stilton and for the top, White Nancy (If you know your cheeses). This is a great alternative from
the traditional four tier cake. Don't forget your crackers.

Who says that you have to wear some classic ivory courts from Kurt Geiger to your wedding do. Wellingtons are just as stylish, and come in all kind of colours to brighten your day! I absolutely love this photograph by Claire Evans Photography. If they are not on your feet, perhaps plant flowers in them. If your going festive, you might as well go all the way.

Absolutely loving this idea! Featured in this months Perfect Weddings, these tea towels are the most original meets unique idea for wedding invitations. Its something your guests can keep and be reminded by everyday right up until the day and after as a keep-sake. Please do visit 'The Original Wedding tea towel' - eco-friendly, quirky and damn right useful.

They come in various designs. I think the really special thing about them is that a couple Ben and Karen, themselves getting married created such an idea when organising their own wedding - and what a great idea! With any paper invite it is easily thrown away but the beautiful designs make it so easy for these to keep, and the fact that they too are tea towels is extra bonus - they are worth every penny!
Also, think about ticket-style invites.

Kate Edmondson offers beautiful couture bridal wear that is vintage-like, clear-cut and simply elegant. She is also known for her attractive headpieces that compliment such exquisite designs. I cant say that wellingtons will compliment such a gown, but hey, its your festive wedding!

Check 'Beryl' out! Perfect for a festival theme wedding, Beryl promises to make you feel at home. Find somewhere that your guests can camp, along with Beryl as an alternative.

She offer three furnished double bedrooms, with a lounge/diner, kitchen, bathroom, and well she looks pretty vintage and cosy.

Check out The Bespoke Bus Company and say hello to Beryl!

You don't need to go somewhere exotic for your honeymoon, or this could simply be before the exotic holiday away in the Maldives. Its a quaint little tree house, created for the nurturing newlyweds who seek peace a hint of quirkyness.

Other ideas include creative wristbands, ticket-style invites, music trivia cards on the table along with jars of sweets instead of individual favours, a band playing, and band names for table names.
Don't, of course, forget about the tractors to wheel your guests in, and the hay stacks for them to perch their bums. From what appeared a WHACKY idea, actually gave me some incite and inspiration - however I don't feel I'll be planning a wedding in a field quite yet.

Would you go festival theme?

Much love,

Jade
